A Guide to Long-Term Ubud Rooms and Suites for 40+ Adults.

Peaceful Ricefield in Ubud

Ubud isn’t just a tourist destination - it’s a place people come to stay a while. With its rice terraces, waterfalls, temples, and artistic heartbeat, Ubud draws travellers seeking more than just a quick holiday.

But here’s the catch:

Whilst there are endless hotels offering a Ubud room or Ubud suite for visitors, it’s surprisingly difficult to find long-term rooms or suites designed for those who want to live in Bali for a month or more.

That’s why we at Bali Beyond Youth went searching for something different.

And we found it:

the one property offering luxurious long-term Ubud suites and rooms perfectly suited for discerning travellers over 40.

The Challenge of Finding Long-Term Suites and Rooms in Ubud

If you type “room Ubud” or “Ubud suites” into Google, you’ll be flooded with hotels and guesthouses.

They’re fine for a few nights, but almost none are built for long-term living.

And, if you do a Google search for long-term Ubud room or suite,” you’ll be shown a multitude of ‘Co-Living and Co-Working’ sites.

BUT BE WARNED: Co-living/Co-Working spaces are extremely youth-oriented, designed to provide young digital nomads with private rooms, together with a shared kitchen, communal office, and lounge for late-night social events. And these places are typically located near the hottest bars and clubs in order to attract their target group.

Obviously, these co-living spaces are ideal if you’re a 25-year-old coder chasing Wi-Fi and nightlife – but not so ideal if you’re a 50-year-old traveller craving peace and cultural depth.

But with that said, we did find one exception to the rule – a rare property that breaks the mould . . .

Gilded Palms Co-Living Residence (Payangan) gildedpalmsbali.com

Elegant private suite at Gilded Palms for mature travellers

The only co-living concept in Bali designed exclusively for mature travellers!

This luxurious boutique villa in Payangan (just 25 minutes north of Ubud) is the only property in Bali intentionally created for 40+ travellers. No children, no late-night parties — just peace, privacy, and community with like-minded mature adults.

What makes it different?

  • Just 4 elegant private suites (max 8 guests) in a luxurious villa;

  • Adults-only environment, tailored for meaningful grown-up connection;

  • A full set of services: chef-prepared meals, barista and bar service, massage, concierge, gym, swimming pool overlooking rice terraces, onsite driver, and daily shuttle to Ubud – everything a mature traveller needs;

  • Location in the island’s cultural heartland - rice terraces, waterfalls, temples, and traditional villages – all on your doorstep.

  • Long-term stays of 1 month (minimum), 3months, 6 months, 9 months, or 1 year.

And then there’s the price!

  • One-month minimum stay: €763 / USD $900.

  • Longer stays: as low as €509 / USD $600 per month.

That’s less than a single week at most mid-range hotels, and less than a single night at many of Ubud’s top hotels - whilst offering boutique-level service and a far more personal touch.

Bonus for those considering retirement in Bali:  A 6-month lease at Gilded Palms will meet the requirements for an Indonesian Retirement Visa!

The conclusion of the Bali Beyond Youth team on the Best Ubud Suites for Mature Travellers?

When it comes to finding a long-term Ubud room or Ubud suite, the options are either overpriced tourist hotels or youth-oriented co-living setups.

The exception:

Gilded Palms Co-Living Residence

The only property offering long-term Ubud suites exclusively for mature travellers.

It’s not just about renting a suite in Ubud — it’s about finding a place where you can belong.

Our Verdict:

Whether you’re looking for a sabbatical, a soft landing in Bali, or a slow-travel retreat, Gilded Palms offers more than just accommodation.

It’s your sanctuary in Bali’s cultural heartland.
